Establishing an institute for promoting Arts and Crafts of the State has come true through the commissioning of State Gallery of Art, at Kavuri hills, Madhapur, Hyderabad in 2004. Ever since its inception, it has conducting as many as 1500 Art Exhibitions, Workshops, demo-lectures, art talks, projecting films on art, Craft and Culture of Telangana for the benefit if the Artists and Sculptors. Certain thematic and calendar events on art and craft were also organised exclusively for different interest groups.

The State Gallery of Art is also catering to the needs of the artists and artisans and also upcoming artist. Apart from the above, a good number of paintings and Sculpture camps are also conducted in its premises and outside, in which large number of local artists, artisans and sculptures exhibited their talents.

The State Gallery of Art has been organising many annual events like Art Mela on its anniversary i.e., 26th January every year, Ganesha Painting Exhibition, Telangana formation Day Celebrations, International Women’s Day Celebrations, Bathukamma Floral Festival in which all famous and upcoming talented artists will participate and Indian Photography Festival, Krishnakrith Festival and many more are organised annually.

State Gallery of Art is an Autonomous Body institute working under Youth Advancement Tourism & Culture Department, Government of Telangana.

State Gallery of Art is providing almost 7 galleries in 3 stored building which is biggest gallery in Asia with 200 seating capacity Auditorium and 6 Guest rooms providing stay for artists coming from other states.

State Gallery of Art witnessed many big events like Painting and Sculpture Exhibition and distributed awards to artists conducted by South Central Zone Cultural Centre (SCZCC) Nagpur, Hyderbad Art Society Conducted its Platinum Celebrations, State Gallery of Art Conducted Art Camp with 210 Artists all over India and other Countries, State Gallery of Art Conducted 2 International Artists Residency in which artists from other Countries participated. State Gallery is supporting Artists in every aspects.
